positive procrastination

I’ve been working on the website… a total redesign. Things were rolling along smoothly and I was almost finished. Then life got in the way and I had to help with the family business for ten days. I lost my momentum and frankly my drive to finish.

Today was going to be the day I dove back in and got things done!

Until I entered the studio… I just wasn’t feeling it… I didn’t want to. My art journal called to me and well, I answered.

Spotify on, playing the Revivalists Mix… I got lost in the music, the paint, paper, glue and pencils. I created a spread I really like and one I don’t like. That doesn’t really matter, really. It just felt amazing to be creating just for the sake of creating.

I usually paint over any personal writing I do in my art journal. The writing is more a way to get started or dump any thoughts that might be holding me back.

However, this message is one I wanted to remember!

I decided that while this is definitely procrastination, it’s the positive kind. Working in my journal sparked my creativity and gave me ideas and inspiration for future work and for my website. I still accomplished something even if it wasn’t what I set out to do.

This is the spread I don’t like as much, however, it gave me some great ideas that I my use in the future… it’s only a mistake if I don’t learn something from it!

Perhaps tomorrow I’ll start out with a very quick journal page and then get to work on that website!

These are the two journals I’m currently working in. Both of these were made by me so I had the size, shape, and paper I wanted. The square one on the bottom is my favorite!
